We had a wonderful day in Wolfville at the Old Orchard Inn for the 2024 Archie MacKeigan Educational Day!
The morning began with “A Palliative Approach – It’s Not What You Think!” with Lesley Hirst of Hirst Health Care Consulting. Lesley led an engaging, myth-busting session on what palliative care truly means. She explored the physical, emotional, spiritual, and social aspects of care and how they intersect. Participants learned new communication techniques for difficult conversations, gained practical tools, and reflected on the importance of self-care. Her energy, humour, and relatable examples made for a memorable and meaningful start to the day.
During the break, attendees visited the Mini Trade Show, connecting with a variety of vendors and discovering new resources and ideas to take back to their workplaces.
In the afternoon, “Civility in the Workplace” was presented by Lindsey Harrington from the Conciliation and Mediation Services. This interactive session explored how small, uncivil actions can impact team dynamics and provided practical tools to enhance respect and collaboration in the workplace. Participants appreciated the opportunity to reflect on their own experiences and left with a renewed focus on fostering kindness and professionalism in their organizations.
The 2024 Education Day was enjoyable, informative, and inspiring. We extend our heartfelt thanks to our presenters, vendors, and all who attended for making the day such a success.
