CCANS Regional Education Fund
The Continuing Care Association of Nova Scotia (CCANS) is committed to supporting ongoing learning and professional development across all regions of the province.
To ensure equitable access to education and professional growth opportunities, CCANS provides each active region with the opportunity to apply for financial support through the Regional Education Fund.
Funding Overview
Each fiscal year, the CCANS Board of Directors allocates up to $6,000 per region to support front-line education sessions as part of the Archie MacKeigan Education Series.
Funding levels are confirmed annually following the presentation of CCANS’s financial report at the Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Eligibility
To be eligible, the region must:
- Have active CCANS members within the region.
- Host or sponsor an event aimed at front-line staff education under the Archie MacKeigan Educational Day banner.
Funding Guidelines
- CCANS members who wish to submit a proposal must complete the official Request for Funding Form.
- Your Regional Representative will review the form and follow up if they have any questions.
- All requests are reviewed by the CCANS Executive, with a response within two weeks.
- Sessions must be free to front-line workers employed by CCANS member organizations.
- After the registration deadline, remaining seats may be opened to non-members at a regional fee.
- If an event is hosted by one organization, the organization can have up to 50% of the participants from their facility but then must open the rest of the seats to the other CCANS member organizations. If there are seats left, the facility can then fill the remainder of the seats with their staff.
- Funds may be used for:
- Venue rental
- Speaker fees
- Coffee breaks and meals
- Whenever possible, events should be hosted at a member facility with adequate space. If that’s not possible, other suitable continuing care or community facilities should be approached before commercial venues.
